We’re loving Hana Willow Design and their beautiful bouquet preservation artwork! Hana Willow Design (Hana meaning flower in Japanese and Willow representing the words everlasting, graceful, and nature) was created by floral designer Tanti Lina. She wanted to provide couples with an alternative way to preserve their bridal bouquets and wedding flowers.

Hana Willow Design works with each client to determine their style and what they wish to showcase in their artwork. It can be strictly flowers or Hana Willow can incorporate the client’s invitation, escort cards, garter, piece of her dress or veil, or even a special piece of jewelry. Once they’ve dried the flowers and collected any additional items, they gather inspiration from wedding photos to create a rough layout, which is approved by the client before being finalized.

Prices for the shadowbox wall art starts at $275, but Hana Willow Design is offering $25 off! Simply mention Two Little Birds and place your order by November 30, 2014. Getting married in 2015? I love delicate jewelry. It’s simple and understated, yet beautiful and classic. It’s jewelry you can wear everyday and all the time. So I was hooked when I came across the MinimalVS shop on Etsy. alyssa & dave’s engagement shoot

I’m so excited for Alyssa and Dave’s wedding this weekend! As you can tell from these photos, they are a fun-loving couple with a great sense of humor. Mike Allebach of Allebach Photography captured their personalities perfectly. Their engagement session was shot at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, South Street, and Tattooed Mom. The entire shoot was so good that I had a ridiculously hard time deciding which photos to post. Enjoy!

I hate being in front of the camera. I’m a behind the scenes kind of gal. But getting out of my comfort zone to take family photos is so worth it. Olive and Ruby are growing up so fast, and while we’re constantly taking photos of them on our phones, it’s just not the same. And the last time we did photos with the entire Fisher side was three years ago when I was pregnant with Olive. So I love having both girls actually in the photos this time!

These beautiful photos were taken by Stephanie of Saltwater Studios. Not only is she extremely talented, but Steph is so sweet and patient. I want to emphasize patient and say it three more times. That’s how much I mean it. Kids are wildcards, and she never loses her cool. You can’t tell from these photos, but Olive was not having her best day, and Steph still managed to get these amazing shots. She has just the kind of calm energy you want around you on your wedding day, and her husband Brent is a cinematographer. Talk about match made in heaven!

Here are few tips if you’re taking family or engagement photos…

1. Coordinate (not match) your outfits. This way, nobody looks out of place, but everyone still gets to be themselves and wear something true to their personality.

2. Read this blog post on Maskcara to learn how to look your best in photos. Turtle neck (not to be confused with the type of shirt) and good posture are my favs!

3. For the posed shots, keep smiling and looking at the camera (especially if there are young kids in the shot). The kids will be looking and smiling in 1/10th of the photos, so you want to make sure you’re looking and smiling in the shots that they are.

4. Relax, smile, and have fun! While we have the traditional posed shots, some of my favorite photos are the candid ones where we’re in between shots and just having fun on the beach.

meet megan

Megan is delighted to be joining Two Little Birds Planning as an event assistant! She comes from a background of luxury fashion and real estate. While interning for both the Gucci Group and LVMH, Megan honed her organizational skills and eye for detail. Upon graduating from Fordham University, Megan worked for a boutique real estate firm on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was here where she was tasked with coordinating special events, and her love for planning blossomed.

Megan spent the past year eating pizza in Italy, scuba diving in the Red Sea, and practicing her French in Paris. Teaching English in Prague, Czech Republic allowed Megan to live a year of wanderlust exploration.

She arrived back stateside with a stack of save the date invitations waiting to be opened. A knack for sophistication and a keen sense for refinement, it wasn’t surprising that the majority of the mail had accompanying notes asking for advice. Megan has always been infatuated with love stories, so it seemed like the simple choice to begin working in the wedding industry.

Capturing the elegance of a couple’s romance is truly an art for the planner. Planning a wedding is like helping a couple to write their unique love story. “I feel like Margaret Mitchell crafting the romance of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler.”

Community involvement has always been important to Megan. She is an active member of the Junior League of Philadelphia. She is also an avid runner, a hobby she deems essential to balance her second occupation as a self-proclaimed mint chocolate ice cream connoisseur.
