welcome baby bird ronan

We’re so excited to announce the newest addition to the Two Little Birds family, Ronan Philip Covelli! Proud parents Caroline and Justin welcomed Ronan on May 14, 2013 (Caroline’s birthday). I think we can all agree that he is the best present ever! Ronan weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and measured 20 1/4″ long.

I met him yesterday, and he is absolutely perfect. Congratulations to the entire Covelli family!

xoxo,

anticipate invitations

An invitation to a wedding is much more than just a statement of date and time. Wedding invitations set the tone and mood of the wedding itself. Everyone knows that first impressions are everything, so why not set the precedent with an invite capturing the spirit of your big day?

We had the pleasure of meeting Michael Musser of Anticipate Invitations at Lovesick Expo in January and were wowed by his work. We especially love his use of different materials.

In his own words, “Anticipate focuses on designing custom-only invitations that stylishly personalize your event. We like to see it as limited edition artwork for your guests. Although most of our work is centered around weddings, we can design for any life occasion (engagements, baby showers, anniversaries, birthdays, baptisms, graduations, holidays, birth, and moving announcements). Design services beyond the invitation are offered as well, such as coordinating save the dates, menu cards, table numbers, favors, and thank you cards.”

Nailing the first impression for any wedding can be made easy with the help of Anticipate Invitations.

take a look: j.crew honeymoon shop

After all the excitement of the big wedding day, its time to kick back and relax at your honeymoon. But oh no, you have a crisis… what are you going to wear during possibly the most thrilling vacation of your life?! Have no fear! J.Crew is here…with clothes. Lots of clothes. In fact, to make your life that much easier, J.Crew has come up with a section on their site designated as “The Honeymoon Shop”.

Staples of the department include loose fitting tops that will effortlessly flow in the wind as you graze across the beach, light blue and ivory linen shift dresses for those casual evenings out, and of course your assortment of accessories. Sunglasses, bathing suits in floral patterns and pastels, and floppy sun hats will look fashionable regardless of how much the wind has tousled your hair.

But wait… there’s more! Within the same department, men’s honeymoon attire is available although it mostly consists of Sperry Top-Siders and swim trunks. If you’re an outfit planner like me, take a peak at the J.Crew Honeymoon shop and kiss your honeymoon woes goodbye.

saving the moment

With something as momentous as a wedding, one of the everlasting joys of the day is the memory itself. What better way to capture your own personal memory than through personalized artwork?

Saving the Moment is a company dedicated to preserving this unique memory. Conducted under the philosophy that the best memories should be honored, Saving the Moment allows the individual to pick from a series of pre-made art designs for big events such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. After selecting a design, one can customize this piece with options including color, text, location, hair color, skin tone, bouquet color, background color, names, dates, size, and frame. Turnaround time is about 1-3 weeks.

Saving the Moment captures what it means for something to be “personalized.” Everyone interprets events in their own way; Saving the Moment allows for these individual interpretations to be preserved and praised in a unique fashion.

spring 2013 flower trends

Despite the bright flowers that made an appearance in bouquets last spring and summer, we’re seeing this year’s flower trends taking a different twist. This spring, wedding florals will be more focused on light pinks and gentle ivories paired with greens, blues, and silvers. Almost as a resurrection of the colors of the Victorian age, brides-to-be will be in search of a more gentle, romantic color pallet consisting of pastels complemented with shiny greens and blues. Specific flower types that will be popular are white anemones, garden roses, and dusty miller. Brides seem to be hailing nature this spring by bringing back earth tones for a simplistically beautiful look.

blast from the past

If you’re looking to stay up on the latest trends of wedding fashion, look no further than Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of The Great Gatsby and the popular TV series, Downton Abbey. The glitz and the glamour of the roaring twenties are making a reappearance, this time notably in wedding fashion.

Going Beyond the Fashion
Newlyweds aren’t just falling in love again with the styles, they are also in love with what the fashion represents. The decadence and merriment of the era make it the perfect model for a wedding. The style of 20’s fashion is very romantic. Lace and pearls give off a certain elegance and charm, which fits a bride’s fantasy of fairytale. Not only this, decadent fabrics and ornate jewels can be easy to style. With popular colors such as soft pastels and ivories, pieces rarely clash.

On the men’s side, simplicity is best. Simple suits in grays and blacks paired with white are powerful because it’s the iconic image of formality. The thrilling, rapidly changing era of the 1920s in American history is something to long for in its own right; its resurrection is a no brainer. When seeking to make something old new, look no further than the roaring 20s for excitement and elegance bundled into one.

Can’t get enough of the 1920s style? See it for yourself!
The Allentown Art Museum in Allentown, PA is featuring an exhibition on the 1920s. Entitled Fabulous Flappers: Fashion from the Ellie Laubner Collection, any 1920s fashion addict will find their fix in everything from evening gowns draped with beads to authentic bridal wear. The exhibition’s last day is this Sunday, April 21st, so plan your weekend trip and get inspired for your big day with an era of elegance!
